Gather the essentials! You'll need lentils (moong dal or toor dal), onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, green chilies, ghee, and a blend of spices like cumin, turmeric, coriander, and garam masala. 

Ingredients You’ll Need  for Dhaba Dal 

Moong dal or toor dal  Onions  Tomatoes  Ginger Garlic Spices Red chili, green chili 

Soak The Lentils 

Begin by soaking your lentils for 30 minutes. This makes them cook faster and gives the dal a smooth texture. Rinse well before cooking 

 Prepare The Tempering  

 Heat ghee in a pan, then add cumin seeds, finely chopped onions, ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté until golden brown, releasing a fragrant aroma.

Add Tomatoes & Spices  

 Stir in chopped tomatoes, turmeric, coriander powder, and garam masala. Cook until the tomatoes soften and blend with the spices to create a flavorful base.

 Add the soaked lentils to the tempering, mix well, and add water. Let it cook until the dal is soft and the flavors meld together. Adjust consistency to your preference .

 Add the Lentils & Cook 

  For that authentic dhaba touch, prepare another tadka by heating ghee and adding cumin seeds, red chilies, and garlic. Pour this sizzling tadka over the dal just before serving 

 Final Tadka For Extra Flavor
