A traditional and tasty treat, Steamed Modaks are perfect for festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi. Let’s learn how to make these sweet, soft dumplings!

Ingredients for the Dough 

For the dough: rice flour, water, ghee, and a pinch of salt. These ingredients create the perfect base for soft modaks.

Ingredients for the Filling 

For the sweet filling: grated coconut, jaggery, cardamom powder, and a few nuts. This filling is the heart of the modak, full of flavor!

Prepare the Dough 

Heat water with ghee and a pinch of salt. Slowly add rice flour to make a smooth dough. Cover and let it cool slightly before shaping.

Make the Filling"

In a pan, cook grated coconut and jaggery until the jaggery melts and the mixture thickens. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

Shape the Modaks 

Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each into a small disc. Place the sweet filling in the center and fold the edges to form the modak shape.

Steam the Modaks 

Place the shaped modaks in a steamer basket, making sure they don’t touch. Steam for 10-12 minutes until they turn soft and shiny.

Serve and Enjoy!
