Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Whole wheat flour
  • 1 Cup Finely chopped spinach (palak)
  • 1 Small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Green chilli, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed for kneading
  • Ghee or oil for cooking

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, chopped spinach, chopped onion, green chili (if using), chopped coriander leaves, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and knead into a soft dough using water as needed. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

Divide and Roll the Dough

  • After resting, divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Take a dough ball and roll it out into a small circle using a rolling pin and some dry flour to prevent sticking.

Cook the Parathas

  • Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the rolled paratha on it. Cook for a minute or until you see bubbles forming on the surface. Flip the paratha and cook the other side for another minute. Apply ghee or oil on both sides and cook until golden brown spots appear, pressing lightly with a spatula.

Serve Hot

  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls. Serve the hot Palak Parathas with yogurt, pickle, or any curry of your choice.
