Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet or pizza stone A baking sheet is the most basic option, but a pizza stone can help achieve a crispier crust.
  • 1 Mixing bowls One large bowl for the dough and a smaller one for the sauce (if making your own).
  • 1 Rolling Pin To roll out the pizza dough.
  • 1 Spoon For mixing and spreading sauce.
  • 1 Sharp knife For cutting the pizza.

Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 280 Grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Instant yeast
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 180 ml Warm Water

For the Toppings (Customize as Desired):

  • Tomato sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Assorted vegetables (such as bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives)
  • Cooked meats (such as pepperoni, sausage, chicken)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Olive oil, for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Pizza Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well. Make a well in the center and add olive oil and warm water. Stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

Shape the Pizza Dough:

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle, using a rolling pin. Transfer the rolled dough onto a piece of parchment paper.

Add the Toppings:

  • Spread tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Arrange your desired toppings over the cheese layer. Finish with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.

Bake the Pizza:

  • Carefully transfer the pizza (on the parchment paper) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Serve:

  • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Drizzle with olive oil, if desired, before serving. Enjoy your homemade pizza hot and fresh!

    Notes

The equipment you'll need for a homemade pizza recipe can vary depending on how fancy you want to get, but here's a breakdown of the essentials and some optional extras:
    Optional Equipment:
Stand mixer: While not necessary, a stand mixer can make kneading the dough much easier.
Food processor: Similar to a stand mixer, a food processor can help with effortless dough prep.
Pizza peel: A long, flat paddle for easily transferring your pizza to and from the oven.
Pizza cutter: A specialized wheel cutter for easier and cleaner pizza slices (though a sharp knife can work too).
Semolina flour or cornmeal: Dusted on your baking sheet or peel to prevent sticking.
Cooling rack: For letting your cooked pizza cool slightly before slicing.
    Bonus - Fancy Equipment:
Pizza oven: An outdoor pizza oven can create a restaurant-quality experience, but it's definitely an investment.
Pizza dough docker: A tool with small spikes used to create tiny holes in the dough to prevent bubbles.
Ultimately, you can make a delicious homemade pizza with minimal equipment. As you get more comfortable with pizza making, you can explore acquiring additional tools to enhance your experience.
