  • 8 Spring roll wrappers (rice paper or wheat flour)
  • 1 Cups Shredded cabbage
  • 1 Cups Shredded carrots
  • 1/2 Cups Bean sprouts
  • 1/2 Cups Thinly sliced bell peppers
  • 1/2 Cups Cooked chicken or shrimp (optional)
  • 2 Cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying, if frying)
  • 1/4 Cups Water (for sealing wrappers)
  • Dipping sauce of your choice (sweet chili, soy sauce, etc.)

Instructions

Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Filling:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the minced garlic andsauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
    • Add the shredded cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
    • If using, add the cooked chicken or shrimp to the skillet and mix well.
    • Stir in the soy sauce,oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Cook for an additional 2 minutes,ensuring the ingredients are well combined.
    • Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

    2. Assemble the Spring Rolls:

    • Prepare a clean, flatsurface for assembling the spring rolls.
    • Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one spring roll wrapper into the water for a few seconds until it softens.
    • Lay the softened wrapper flat on the surface. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling near the bottom edge of the wrapper.
    • Fold the bottom edge over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll the wrapper tightly towards the top edge, sealing it with a dab of water. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

    3. Frying the Spring Rolls (Optional):

    • If you prefer fried springrolls, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-highheat.
    • Carefully add the springrolls to the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy,about 2-3 minutes per side.
    • Remove the fried springrolls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

    4. Serving:

    • Serve the spring rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.
