Ingredients:
- 4 Medium sweet potatoes
- Water (for steaming)
- Optional: salt, butter, or olive oil for serving
1. Preparation:
Wash the sweet potatoesthoroughly under running water to remove any dirt. You can use a vegetablebrush for better cleaning.
Peel the sweet potatoes ifdesired, though leaving the skin on retains more nutrients. Cut them intouniform pieces if they are large, or leave them whole if they are small tomedium-sized.
3. Steam the Sweet Potatoes:
Place the sweet potatoes in the steamer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. You can steam them in batches if needed.
Cover the pot with a lidand bring the water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat tomedium and steam the sweet potatoes for 20-25 minutes.
Check for doneness byinserting a fork or knife into the thickest part of a sweet potato. It shouldglide through easily when they are fully cooked.
4. Serving:
Remove the sweet potatoes from the steamer basket using tongs or a spoon, being careful of the hot steam.
Let them cool slightly before serving. You can season with a pinch of salt, a pat of butter, or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
Serve the steamed sweet potatoes as a side dish or enjoy them as a healthy snack on their own.
