Ingredients

  • 4 Ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 2 Cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Wash and chop the tomatoes, onion, green chilies, garlic, and ginger. 

Cooking the Chutney

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.Add cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds until fragrant. Add chopped onion, green chilies, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.

Adding Tomatoes and Spices

  • Add chopped tomatoes to the pan and mix well. Cook the tomatoes until they become soft and mushy, stirring occasionally. Once the tomatoes are cooked, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Mix everything together.

Simmering the Chutney

  • Reduce the heat to low and let the chutney simmer for 5-7 minutes until it reaches the desired consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking

Garnish and Serve

  • Once the chutney reaches the desired consistency, turn off the heat.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Allow the chutney to cool slightly before serving.
